The Characters of My Cyber Unicorn

James 

   A talkative man in his late 30s, James is often accused of being lazy or unproductive by others. However, he can get by that (being lazy) only because in actuality, he is a clever and intelligent man.  The only problem is that he seemingly has zero ambition or motivation.

  When James was growing up, he was not very popular amongst his peers. Average looking, average personality, not athletic, and so on. One of his redeeming qualities was that he was good at his grades. His parents ignored him most of his life and so he turned his grades (the only pride he has) to his peers. Needless to say, they were not too impressed. 

  Bullied and called names throughout much of his school life, James began to neglect his studies all together. He saw them as having no point. Craving for attention, the only good thing about him brought nothing but misery. He just wants to be accepted. With his belief system shattered, he started loathing himself, slowly withering away the potential of what he could have become had he gained the attention he longed for. The only comfort he found was in the sweet food that never judged and was always there for him. 

Mr. K.

   To much of his dismay, Mr. K. has been working with James for a few years. What can only be described as a god complex, Mr. K. will take nothing but perfection and expects others to do so as well. A direct mirror to James, it agitates Mr. K. greatly how someone like James is able to stay on the same level as him.

   Mr K. comes from an unresponsive and perhaps a cold family. Much of the interaction between the family members are of the achievements one of would get. Being the youngest of his family, Mr. K. was eager to share his accomplishments as well. Not particularly extraordinary himself, the only way to prove himself was to make no mistake, no matter the cost; a quality he brought on to his own family.

   Mr. K. is father to a rebellious teenage daughter. With her character and personality completely alien to him, he is convinced that his daughter is simply behaving inappropriately or is acting up for some reason. To make matters worst, every time he interacts with his daughter, he is reminded of James. Mr. K. is afraid of being at fault; there's no way that he could possibly be wrong. But how can people like his daughter and James exist? Simple, THEY are wrong. Mr. K. is determined to control them (and others) and move them over to his beliefs by any means necessary.

Samantha 

   A bright young woman in her late 20s, Samantha is not one to stand out. Her passive and maybe even naive nature has gotten her no real friends or enemies. It is rare to find Samantha to be in conflict with others as she prefers to avoid such things all together and never really seemed keen on standing for what she believed in.

   Samantha was a beauty when she was younger. She also came from a substantially wealthy family. These two traits meant that she attracted a lot of attention from both her male, as well as female peers. There was nothing that Samantha enjoyed more than having a lot of 'friends' surround her.

   The people around Samantha manipulated her for both her money and her well-being. Many befriended her to receive pricey gifts and would disappear afterwards. A simple sad face and a bit of a sad story would be able convince her to spend. A lot of men would seduce her only to have her female 'friends' orchestrate a plot that would send him away (preferably to one of them). Of course, all is fine and dandy when she hangs out with them. When graduation came and her 'friends' no longer needed to stay near her, Samantha suddenly found herself alone. A terrible judge of character, Samantha is eager to befriend others, no matter who they are.

Bob

   Hardworking and dedicated, Bob is a workaholic through and through. It is more likely to seem him working late at night than to have him just relax or taking the time to chat with a co-worker. Selfish and quite judgmental, the only thing he focuses his energy on, is his work.

   Bob comes from a loving family. His father was a simple businessman and his mother was a simple housewife. Even though he is mostly away at work, his father spent a lot of his free time with Bob, always teaching him how to be a better man. Helpful and selfless, Bob was quite like his father when he was a child.

   One day, there was a car accident. Bob's father sacrificed himself to save a nameless child. This struck a devastating blow to Bob. With the sudden responsibility of the family now weighing on his mother's shoulder, the housewife had to slave from job to job in order to support the two of them. She eventually passed away from the exhaustion of overworking when Bob had finished school. Angry and confused, Bob cursed at his father for saving that child and abandoning them. He swore to himself that he would help no one, and care for no one. After all, he's all that he's got.
