The Storyline of My Cyber Unicorn
***POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD***
Basic Storyline
My Cyber Unicorn is a game about Bob. Bob is a just a guy with a normal life and a normal job. The man is a workaholic and has set all his priorities towards work. The story begins with the overworked Bob, late for work again. While rushing to get to his workplace, he encounters the three other characters in a lift. Their names are James, Mr. K., and Samantha. As the three argue about trivial matters and indirectly annoy Bob (as always), something goes wrong with the elevator. The machine plummets to the ground, taking the four with them.Bob awakens to a dark and lonely environment and encounters a surreal and cryptic character, a unicorn. The unicorn claims to know Bob, but Bob has no idea who the unicorn is supposed to be. The unicorn explains that Bob is trapped in a dream and that the only way possible to escape is to follow the unicorn. With no other apparent options, Bob complies.
Bob follows the unicorn through a portal, and finds himself in a world where everything is basically made out of food. From the mountainous muffins, to the flying hamburgers; even the ground was edible. He hears people talking behind the cotton candy bushes and decides to investigate. Two small block-like beings are admiring a human figure dressed in a somewhat tacky superhero costume. That man is James, one of the characters that was inside the elevator. The blockmen thank 'Super James' for presumably saving the day. Upon seeing James, Bob enters the scene and immediately and openly mocks James for his appearance. James obviously offended, chooses to ignore Bob and proceeds to fly away, or rather, run away. Bob then continues to look for the unicorn in this world.
After opening a keyhole and entering a portal, Bob enters a completely different world. He finds himself in a grand hallway, adorned with marble busts of someone he knows; Mr. K., another character from inside the elevator. Shortly after arriving, Bob is accosted by unusual looking guards. These guards, as well as all the other individuals appear to have no facial features and are only colored with black and white. Bob is arrested and brought to 'Lord K.'. With no understanding of the situation (or desire to) and the general lack of social grace, Bob offends the arrogant and righteous Lork K., and is sent to the dungeon. The unciron passively helps Bob escape, allowing him to continue his journey.
One thing lead to another, and now Bob has entered a different world. This one is similar to the first, in that it's pitch black and surrounded with an eerie low hum. Out of the blue, Bob spots Samantha, the final character from the elevator and greets her. They discuss about escaping the dream worlds together. However, when Samantha introduces her newly acquired friend, Bob notices instead, a shadowy figure and mocks Samantha's decision of acquainting herself with it. Samantha genuinely sees her friend as a real person and is offended by Bob's action. Bob becomes dismissive and insists that Samantha is acting stupidly and decides to ditch Samantha. Samantha is left alone with the shadowy figures.
After opening several portals, Bob finally returns back to his world; or so he thinks. It is late at night in his office, and instinctively, he goes directly onto his cubicle computer to finish up today's work, pretending as if nothing even happened. The unicorn watches from afar with one thing on it's mind. Disappointment.
If players go to the level select after finishing all the levels, there is a secret level that is now unlocked. This level shows the real ending of the game. The unicorn reveals it's true identity and the purpose of it's arrival. When Bob was a kid, he was arguably the direct opposite of what he is now. He used to be much more selfless and enjoyed helping others. The ways he reacted towards his colleagues saddens the unicorn. He is here to remind Bob that even though it is good to have a goal, it doesn't mean that you can neglect or harm others. He is here to remind Bob of the days where Bob rode his cyber unicorn and zapped all the problems of children away.
